Today, my girlfriend showed me a print of a Banksy that she'd just bought, telling me it was an original. When I tried to argue that it wasn't, she broke up with me for "implying she was a moron." FML

While I agree that the manner in which they are all going ask about who Banksy is, and the abundance of these same posts, is going to be depressing, I think it's a little harsh to compare them to cave-dwellers lacking education just because they do not yet know who Banksy is. I mean I didn't know who Banksy was until today; I had to look him up on wikipedia. I do agree though that it shows that they don't know how to search for these things which is a few letters and an enter button away, though, which is a bad mind-set to have.

To be honest, I don't see why she'd want a Banksy print. He's a great street artist, but I think the greatest thing is to look at his work and see what he's done with the surroundings. He incorporates other graffitti, textures of the wall and I believe he used double yellow lines painted by the council at one point. It wouldn't be quite so amazing to have it as a print, but I guess the guy has to make money somehow.

Keep it simple stupid. Next time try "that's very nice _______________(insert pet name here)" then she'll be happy, you'll still have a GF and you don't always have to be right. Sometimes you can let others enjoy their moment.

I myself am one of many artists who works in the printmaking medium and make my own handmade prints and etchings in a print shop. However, I'm pretty sure Banksy is primarily a street artist and dosen't work as a printmaker producing original artist prints. They would also sell for a lot of money, and would probably reveal his secret identity. However, it's possible that OP's girlfriend purchased a ''limited edition'' print, which although not original, can still be quite valuable.
