Today, my grandma picked up the phone. It was a man asking to speak to me. Instead of giving me the phone she decides to hang up on him, thinking it was some guy trying to "get with me." It turned out to be the call I've been waiting all week for... a call from a huge company about a job offer. FML

Ow Why do you live with your grandma anyway? Parents are where its at

Had an elderly aunt living with us. She was forbidden to answer the phone. Set up the same parameters with your grandma, unless she's paying the bills.

Giving her the benefit of the doubt... the guy probably was trying to "get with her".

Sounds like something my nan would do... FYL.

D: FYL. Some people can't just mind their own bussiness.

Some employers don't accept being called back. You either pick up the phone the first time, or you lose your chance entirely.

If that's true, then my parents- who made me do the front garden, so I couldn't hear my phone ring, who moan constantly that I don't have a job, have cost me a job and money calling the company back, parents suck!

No seriously, this only happened to me about last week

Ah. I couldn't tell. Parents do suck sometimes...My Dad's been howling at me to get a job ever since I quit my last one because of my insane boss. He seems to have forgotten it's fairly difficult to get a job during the economic crisis, especially if you don't have 10+ years of experience at the age of 21.

lol, at least you had a full time job, 18, Unemployed, constant belittlement from parents even though both of them have had problems with getting jobs and sat on their asses, I went out actively to get one and still get abuse about it, applied to about 5-6 jobs and I have to go and find more- issue being there are no more as no one wants to hire anymore. I cant get them off my back about anything and am threatened with being kicked out weekly.

hey dont worry, i'm also 18(almost 19) and ive never had a job. I did get a job interview in senior year but the lady was a bitch and wanted me to work everyday, i also screwed it up pretty badly. All i have a is a volunteer job, which is good i guess cuz its gunna help me with vet school

Oh I hate people like that. My friend's aunt has been jobless for years, refuses to even try to look for a job, refused to take my friend to get his license (I ended up taking him in MY car), sits on her ass all day long, lost their van a few months ago, is close to losing their trailer, wastes money on weed and about two cartons of cigarettes a week, hasn't gotten a new car yet, and then still abuses my friend for not having a job. She also bitches at him because he's apparently a lazy worthless piece of shit, even though he's literally the only one in the house to do anything at all. He cleans her room for her because she can't be bothered to do it herself. I do little errands for them quite a lot, like taking him into town to get his brother's medicine, but when I need my friend to drive to a bigger city with me that he's familiar with, she says no, while still expecting me to get the medicine.

Time to put her Wednesday pills in the Monday slot.

YDI for still living with your gramma. You always have to follow nana's rules.

this is why I don't like old people

Oh wow that sucks... just call them back?

If you're old enough for such a serious job, your granny needs to butt the **** out. Meaning, it's none of her business if it's a guy trying to get with you.
