Today, my grandmother yet again asked where my grandfather is. She refuses to believe us when we tell her that he passed away 6 years ago. She always insists that he's out cheating on her and accuses us of lying to cover his arse. FML

I'm sorry. Dementia is tough for any family. Stay strong, lean on family.

*hugs* I'm so sorry. my grandma almost called the cops on my mom and sister because she no longer recognized them and thought they were thieves.

I think, although I could be wrong, that 'arse' is the British slang for 'butt' or 'ass'

Why, only the GREATEST THING EVER. You can squeeze them, kiss them, use them as pillows, stare at them for hours and just space out, and you can even SIT ON THEM, they're so comfortable. I got mine from IKEA. And the guy above me is totally wrong. Stop with the crazy-talk, son.

Wow...you guys comment...? VERY cool...and arse means ass right? I'm tired right now and you saying you got yours from IKEA is throwing me off. Now, if you said, "I got mine from UFC Gym" THEN I would be sure it meant ass...please let me know so I don't obsess with my OCD over it...THANKS!!!!! : )

I've said too much already. Just go into your local store and tell the employees you're there to check out their fine arses. And for the love of God, whatever you do, don't Google it.

I would recommend saying he is out getting her flowers. And just keep flowers planted on his grave or in remembrance of him.

Mine does thr same thing.. I know how you feel.

That's so sad, stay strong, it's really all you can do. :(

Dementia is a hell of a thing. Just keep supporting her like you're doing. Take care OP.

Tell her whatever she wants to hear. Alzheimer's patients will not believe the truth simply because you present it to them logically.

I've worked with people who have any dementia, and a helpful tip is that you should side track her and get her into a conversation going off of what she was asking. It sounds weird, I know. But it's actually proven to work and it's part of the training for people who work with dementia patients.
