Today, my house was broken into. After we called the police, my dad started calling himself Sherlock Holmes and talking in a British accent. He insists on calling me Watson. He is going around the neighborhood acting like Sherlock, investigating stuff. He won't stop. FML

Haha! I love the comments! I just want to let everyone know, I am not making fun of him or bashing him. I love how he is taking this situation. He seriously is the best :)

In a situation where most families would feel pillaged and broken due to having their personal space ravaged by some random thug, he is making light of it and letting everyone else know its ok to have fun and not worry about it. You should go along with it, it could be fun :)

I wish I could do that. I'd probably examine a shard of glass and lose a hand though...

I hate it when American's say British accent. There are at least a hundred very different accents in britain. OP is just referring to one of the ones from London that few people actually use

Well, don't people outside the US generalize American accents as well? There are several regional accents in America as well. It's just easier to say "British" or "American accent" than "Cockney accent" or "Minnesotan accent".

there are also a lot of different American accents. for a foreigner they all sound similar so why would they specify a certain region? that's no reason to get mad about

The difference between saying a 'British accent' and 'American accent' is that the US is one country whereas Britain is three countries (England, Scotland and Wales) so it would be impossible to have an accent from those three countries all rolled into one...

Mom friar, the United Kingdom, not Britain, Great Britain IS English, which as a general rule would have a British or English accent. The UK would include the above territories you listed, and yes that would no truly be possible.

No such thing as a British accent... :/

At least he's taking it in a good way and not getting all depressed about it op :)
