Today, my husband gave me an ultimatum - choose him or my male best friend. I chose my husband. My husband then admitted to me that he was hoping I would choose my best friend so he would have an excuse to leave me and wouldn't have to tell me he's been cheating on me. FML

What an ass. If your best friend really is such a good friend, I'm sure he'll still be there for you. why is everyone blaming only the husband? Yes he cheated...but if he told his wife to choose between him and another guy SHE too was obviously cheating (physically or emotionally). This marriage was pretty screwed up if both parties were involved with other people.

Uh, no. Ever thought the husband could just be an insecure asshole? My best friend is a guy, I've never liked him as more than a friend and the thought alone makes me want to gag. He's practically my big brother. And I have had plenty of insecure boyfriends try and give me the same ultimatum because they just can't believe that we're completely platonic. If the OP's husband is insecure, that's not her freaking fault. And according to the post the husband admitted that he just gave her the ultimatum to try and get an excuse to leave her without admitting to adultery...
