Today, my landlord asked to borrow my truck to move some furniture. When she returned it, I noticed she had filled the gas tank up. I thanked her for doing so, and she handed me the receipt and said "just add it to next month's rent". FML

Today, my dad agreed to let me borrow the car to go rock climbing with my friends. He'd just filled it up with gas, which is how I realized halfway back home that one of my "friends" had siphoned well over half the gas straight out of the tank. FML

Today, while borrowing my girlfriend's dad's truck, I had to pay $120 to prevent it from being towed. I was parked right in front of my apartment unloading heavy furniture into my garage for not even 20 minutes while the apartment manager, who called the tow truck, watched us from his balcony. FML

Today, I returned home from a 2-day trip. Before I left, I told my brother to move my car across the street when the street cleaner passes by. Turns out, he used all my gas and got so wasted he forgot to move my car. I got a big ticket that he said he'd pay for. He's unemployed and lives off me. FML

Today, I went to start my truck that I had parked in my driveway after a long haul. The fuel gauge indicated I had a full tank. I didn't fill up. My neighbours' son decided to fill the tank with water with a hose,150 litres worth on top of diesel. His dad's response? "Kids eh, what ya gonna do?" FML

Today, I was standing in the gas station, pulling out my wallet to pay the $100 of gas I just filled my car with. I opened my wallet and found a note saying "borrowed money for food". FML

Are you serious? I"m sorry but I was taught then when you borrow things you return them in the same condition if not better. I always borrow my friend's truck and fill it all the way up regardless of when/where/how long I used it. Even after he tells me I don't have to, it's been ingrained into my head by my parents and I've yet to meet someone that didn't like the gesture.

filling the tank is just a small way of saying: thanks, I appreciate you letting me use your truck so I didn't have to spend $100 renting one. i let a friend borrow my car once (i had a little over a half a tank of gas). when she gave it back It was almost empty. least put back what you use!! some people are just thoughtless.

Pay next months rent and subtract the gas bill from it. Attach the gas receipt to the rent payment. Attach a letter explaining you are deducting the gas from the rent since the landlord borrowed your truck and filled up the tank. Explain that if the landlord prefers, you can pay the rent in full and the landlord can reimburse you for the gas. Keep a copy for your records. You are legally covered from eviction proceedings.
