Today, my landlord started showing my apartment, where I have lived and paid rent for over 2 years, to prospective tenants. I didn't realize that I was moving. FML

That's against the law. You should report him.

Ask for lower rent price or else you talk shit about the place

They do; the landlord is legally required to give OP 24 hours notice before entering the apartment, and is also required to give at least 30 days notice (depending on the lease) if they're evicting OP.

Your lawyer then showed up the next day right?

U must have the same landlord i did and it isn't against the law, believe me I tried to sue him

it is against the law for a landlord to enter the premises without notifiying the tenant at least 24 hours beforehand..

I meant to thumbs you down. Yes it is illegal. I don't know what kind of lawyer you had, or what part of your story you're leaving out, but yes it is illegal not to get permission first. They are required to give a 24 hour notice.

You have a contract I hope because then you have until it runs out. If you do not then he has to give you a 30 days notice to leave. If he doesn't everything he's doing is illegal.

put out a for sale sign with the landlords address and phone number on it. he wont know that he's supposed to be moving either

Not just should have, is legally required to. In Canada 24 hours notice is required before any entry without the tenants express consent.

That's why when you lease is better lol
