My brother (4) wracked my car once. You know, one of these "electric-kid-car" whatever. THEN he came crying back to me screeming "I HATE YOU AND YOUR UGLY CAR!!" My mom started yelling at me for having such a dangerous car. I'm sorry OP, know what u're going through;)
You learned a very valuable lesson: NEVER try to convince bad drivers that they are anything but. It gives them false security and makes them drive even worse, thinking they aren't as bad as they are. Your sister is proof of that. But I swear if I see one "women drivers" comment, I will blow a gasket.
You know why she's a bad driver? She's a woman. ;D
19- Then perhaps a "man driver" joke will be more tasteful? Why are men bad at both driving and sex? Cause they always pull out without any thought of who else might be coming. ;P Sorry, couldn't help it. Commence the facepalms.
She's not a bad driver because she's female--she's a bad driver because she's young and people are ignorant enough to tell her not to accept criticism. She needs to grow up, and people need to be more realistic. It's not until either someone gets hurt or forks over a couple of grand in damage do people usually accept this. So OP, my final words: FYL, but you definitely deserved it.
I'm with Doc on this one. I've logged well over 3 million km as a professional driver, and terrible drivers come in every race and gender combination. The only things they usually have in common are a lack of attentiveness and general cluelessnes about safe driving habits. I was training a fellow in his 50s last month who fully believed it was traffic's responsibility to adjust speed and make space for him to merge at a yield sign. As such he didn't think he needed to look over until his lane ended "just to make sure". Needless to say, he did NOT pass my training, and is most certainly not driving for me.
53) I only said that because Doc said he would blow a gasket..
When you were telling her that did you already think she was a bad driver?
Wow OP. You gave her a chance and she blew it. FYL but more importantly F her life. She needs some driving lessons STAT!
What? OP's car is wrecked, not even of her own accord, and you say "more importantly" her sister is in an FML because she doesn't drive well and needs some lessons? O.o It's a lot less of a problem to get someone to take you a few places or *gasp* walk while you get some damn driving lessons than to pay for and wait for car repairs, to say the least about it.
It's looks like you have way too much time to think about this FML. Relax, it's all in fun. These things aren't that serious. What is serious is seeing people struggle to survive in a medical ICU and watch them succumb to their illness. Now that's serious. So calm yourself about the trivial.
The attack of the weak: point out that the person who disagrees with your comment has too much time on his/her hands or takes things too seriously. You made a point; CRC made a counter-point. What makes you think he/she is taking this any more seriously than you were when you proclaimed the sister's life ******? And, yeah, ICU is a serious matter. So are many other things that are irrelevant to the current discussion. It doesn't mean opinions and comments should be reserved just for those dire topics.
IDid you really say "FYL but more importantly F her life."? I don't think you full grasp the gravity of their situation. The younger sister wrecked the older sister's car. F the elder's life; she has to repair the damages. The girl's probably not even on her insurance, either. You know who I blame? Aliens.
She will be the Sheldon Cooper of the family. Needs rides everywhere.
Why would you let her drive your car after that? It's nice that you believed in her and everything, but if it were me in that situation I wouldn't have let her drive my car.
Everybody's saying "oh, why did you let her drive your car?" but has anyone thought maybe she crashed HER car into her sister's?
Usually when people say "wrecked my car" it means the car was wrecked while that person was driving it. I'm not saying your scenario is impossible but the way the FML is worded makes it seem unlikely
That sucks OP but you shouldn't have told her to ignore the criticism. It's how we learn
I agree. A lot of bad advice begins with "Don't listen to..." I don't know why there's a trend of thinking everything said about you that you don't like is "negativity" or "hating". No one is perfect so if someone points out a way you can improve something about yourself, that shit is more than likely true, especially if many people are independently saying the same thing.
Hope you continued to respond positively to this situation....op: "hey, it's okay, at least it wasn't your car you wrecked this time. Let's try another encouraging hug".

giving her a driving lesson probably would have been a better choice
