Today, my mom admitted that her story about my dad leaving us for his current wife was a lie. He left when he caught her with a coworker. She blocked his number and got a restraining order to keep him from telling his side of the story. I haven't talked to my dad for six years because of this. FML

Who knows what the OP's mother said to the courts to get the restraining order. If she is willing to lie to her child for six years, to cover her own ass, then she is obviously not above saying her husband beat her. As for the OP, I am sorry sorry your mother is such a malicious bitch. Demand your father's phone number or address. Call him, and invite him to lunch. Explain that you only recently learned how vile your mother is. If you are under 18, ask if you can live with him. Most states allow the child to make that decision after age 13. Before you blame him for not contacting you, get his side of the story. I wish you the best of luck.

I have real-life experience to prove it My mum got TWO restraining orders, one against my dad and one against my grandpa, both for no real reason (or made-up reasons that were lame anyway - 'he banged on the door too hard when he came to pick up my son - he's threatening to bring down my house!! aaaa'). It's called an interim restraining order and technically they shouldn't allow ones with lame excuses - it does sound illegal, but the thing is IT HAPPENS and don't tell me it doesn't because it happened to me. My mum stopped my dad from contacting me or my brother for a month using a bloody restraining order he didn't deserve. Yeah, the police really are hopeless.

I sympathise, my mam did something similar, only there were four other men involved, my dads best friend, one of my dads employees, her best friends fiance and a random scottish dude. My dad never stopped fighting for me though and eventually won, but my mam still refused to admit she was wrong, she still does and gets annoyed at me whenever i contradict her about it, she even refuses to admit she ever took my dad to court. There really is nothing women like that won't do to get what they want. Take my advice, get out of the house, she's poison and will do you no good, don't cut all contact, she is still your mother, but let her know you will not put up with her bitchiness and whatever you do never give her any power over you whatsoever

I'm pretty sure the law mentions how showing cleavage to the judge grants you an automatic restraining order against whomever you wish.

Ha, well, Ive been talking about my sister in comments above this and how easy it was for her to get restraining orders. That was all in Cali. She's a sociopath, and people who don't know her well are easily fooled. I wouldn't put her above harming herself just to have marks. Actually, with her current husband, soon-to-be-ex.....every time she physically assaults him, she calls his command (he's a marine) and tells them that he's assaulting her. We actually had WITNESSES to her punching him in the face outside my brother's wedding. All this time, she also has another boyfriend whom she is "engaged" to and is planning to move to MN with in the near future.
