Today, my mom admitted that her story about my dad leaving us for his current wife was a lie. He left when he caught her with a coworker. She blocked his number and got a restraining order to keep him from telling his side of the story. I haven't talked to my dad for six years because of this. FML

Sorry, to say this, dude, but your mom's a straight-up bitch. Call your dad, no matter how awkward it is. I don't know how you'd feel about suing your mother, but there's some serious money to be made here.

Fake. They just don't randomly hand out restraining orders to whoever asks, you need to have a real reason.

no, it's not fake, and I have experience to prove it My mum got TWO restraining orders, one against my dad and one against my grandpa, both for no real reason (or made-up reasons that were lame anyway - 'he banged on the door too hard when he came to pick up my son - he's threatening to bring down my house!! aaaa'). It's called an interim restraining order and technically they shouldn't allow ones with lame excuses - it does sound illegal, but the thing is IT HAPPENS and don't tell me it doesn't because it happened to me. My mum stopped my dad from contacting me or my brother for a month using a bloody restraining order he didn't deserve. Yeah, the police really are hopeless.
