Today, my mom called and told me I got accepted to my first-choice college. I got really excited and asked her to read me the letter. As she started to read it, she said, "Oops... uh, nevermind." FML

Today, I was accepted to the college of my dreams. Then I checked the address. Turns out, the letter was meant for my neighbor. I was actually denied. FML

Today, I got a large envelope from a college I applied to earlier. My mom, expecting big news, made my family gather round as I opened it. It ended up being a letter of rejection from not just that school, but all three campuses of the state college. FML

Today, I got a letter from Yale law school saying I got a 4 year full scholarship. I called my dad crying and read the whole thing... even the bottom, which said, "April fools! Love mom and dad." FML

Today, I was cleaning my father's study room and wondering why I did not receive my acceptance/rejection letter from a college I really wanted. I found the acceptance letter, on his desk, also approving of a full scholarship. The deadline to confirm was a month ago. FML

Today, after being accepted into the college of my dreams, I found out that my mom has spent all my college savings on alcohol over the years, and she says that it's my fault for not "helping her get help." FML

Today, I received my acceptance letter to one of the most prestigious universities in the US, as well as a nice scholarship. I was so proud of myself, I eagerly showed my dad, hoping he would shed a tear or two. His only words were, "Just get a job so you can get the hell out of my house." FML

Today, I was accepted to college and received a scholarship equal to almost half the tuition. After sharing this news with my parents, I spent the next 35 minutes getting yelled at about how I wasn't allowed to go there because my boyfriend might go there. FML

Today, I was excited because I was going to get my college decisions back. I put all of the letters in order of my preference. Didn't get into my first choice. Denied from my second choice. Rejected from my third choice. Wait listed on my back-up. Accepted for a job at Target. FML

I may be wrong but don't rejection letts come in a small envelope as opposed to a larger envelope if your accepted, mine did anyways.

Yeah you don't get into college just based on your grades and your GPA. People you know can also get you into college believe it or not.

Like 5 my acceptance to my first choice came in a small envelope too, they just sent a larger one later. guess they were going for the shock value. & OP, maybe you should ask Mother not to open your mail :/ and don't fret, i'm sure you got in somewhere.. :]

You'll get in somewhere great, believe me. I applied to thirteen schools, got into six, got rejected from seven, and got into my dream school (which believe me, was pretty much a 1/10000000000000000000000000 longshot) so miracles do happen. Besides, if they didn't want you, then you're better than them. ...But seriously, make your mum get some reading glasses or at least a sense of tact, god!

This is why not being too stupid to do well in high school is useful, because then they WOULD have accepted you. Could've saved yourself an awful lot of disappointment.

will never understand the point of applyting to 13 schools, #13-queenofscots. honestly? you have that little confidence in your record? what a waste of money. and you obviously didn't need those 12 others if you got into your top choice.
