Today, my mom grabbed my phone, said she was taking it because I'd been disrespectful, and hung up my call. I'd been speaking with a work client. This is the gratitude I get for paying all her bills for the past 2 years, all because she's too lazy to get a job. FML

Today, I told my mom I wasn't doing very good mentally and I was looking for some support. She decided to remind me of all of the things I still haven't paid her back for. I'm now an unpaid loan, not her daughter. FML

Today, I checked my inbox and realized I got an email from a potential employer, saying they were having trouble getting a hold of me by phone. They called while my mom was using my phone to look up directions to a place, and she answered, kindly hanging up when they asked for me. FML

Today, I called my mom from Australia. I have been abroad for two months and hadn't talked to her in a long time. A few minutes into the conversation my moms stops me and says this call must cost a fortune and hangs up on me. A few bucks in more important to her then me. FML

Today, I spent all day at the hospital with my grandma for some tests. When I drove her back home she decided to thank me with $50. Knowing she is unemployed, I told her I couldn't take a whole $50. She replied with "Ungrateful, just like your mother", then took the money and left. FML

Today, my mom has been calling me every ten minutes, asking me questions about her new computer. She called me at work, and I rudely answered her question. She called back, talked to my boss, saying she was a customer that called in, and I was rude to her. FML

Today, my mom called while I was at a job interview. I ignored the call, but the interviewer was so offended by the fact I'd rudely left it on at all, that he threw me out. I found out from my mom later that she'd called to wish me good luck. FML

You need to stop enabling your mom. She needs to learn that she can't keep using you as a source, and grow up. She's supposed to be the parent, not you. This path is going to be your life if you don't change it now. Your mom needs to learn the values of life and her lack of responsibility is wrong, especially when she is dependent on her child.

I truly don't understand how people let blood and DNA force them to feel obligated. It's not your relation to the individual. It's how they have treated you, and how they continue to treat you. You should never throw so much resource and effort into someone who doesn't appreciate it. You may feel like you're helping your mom, but you are actually hurting her. You're enabling her. Stop doing what you are doing.

I'm all for supporting my parents as much as I can after they retire, but not when they're still 50 years old and just lazy. I'd say explain the call was for your job, the job paying for her stuff.
