Today, my mum asked me how the guinea pig was doing. We don't have a guinea pig. Turns out she had volunteered me to look after the next door neighbor's guinea pig when they were away and 'forgot' to tell me. They have been gone two weeks. FML

I hope you went to check on it straight away. There's a chance that it could still be alive. If it is, give it water and food and take it to a vet straight away.

Just buy a new one and do the classic switch-a-roo. Be sure to find that old one though! Color and size does matter!

I think they have nothing on you that's more like their fault...

There's a very good chance he/she could still be alive. The neighbors probably left Fluffy well stocked with food and water.

After two weeks I don't think it's a very good chance at all, no matter how well stocked it was.

Your mom is an idiot, and this is her fault. First of all, she shouldn't have volunteered you; she should have told them she'll check with you. Second, she should have told you that you've been asked to care for the neighbor's guinea pig. SHE needs to apologize to the neighbors for not having told you about checking their pet.

Guessing the guinea pig is dead... You should buy a car under moms name and forget to tell her.

I don't think the cost/comparison is a good fit here. Plus, it's not even OPs fault, so why set himself up to get into trouble for nothing? Not saying a pet is not expensive, but it's just not the same thing.
