She was using the cat as an excuse because a parent saying they miss you is like them babying you and hindering your progress to maturity. She missed you, she loves you. Read between the lines xD

To nodai I say point taken, but perhaps the reason why she's wrote this is because she already tried to read between the line and it was just empty. Perhaps normal parents just say "hey we miss you, let's have dinner tomorrow" or "sweetie we don't see you enough" or like normal families just get quietly and agree and passive aggressive. Tsk Tsk Tsk

Maybe the cat really loves OP and gets upset because they're not around enough. It would be pretty sad if the cat misses OP more than their family though.
