Today, my parents used my going away party as a cover up for my sister's surprise party. I didn't know until they brought out the cake. FML

So I guess your sister wasn't the only one who was surprised

I'm the middle child of my family, and being so sometimes I don't get as much, but you get used to it. I am just thankful for what I have. So be thankful for what you have! Even if your sister is the favourite! I am sure you have your spotlight sometimes! ^^

Reminds me of that drake and josh episode where drake forgets Josh's birthday and has a party for his gf

Damn OP that bites. I would have thrown the biggest bitch fit ever if I were in your shoes at that moment, but my older sis and her bullshit are really bad and idk how things are for your family.

That truly sucks; I had a brother in law whose birthday was on Christmas Eve, he vehemently inasisted on no combo presents :)

You must've stayed a little longer for than they planned.

My eldest sister got a surprise sweet sixteen party, which was also a surprise going away party for a friend of hers, and a third party for a third girl, the occasion I can’t remember. Each of the girls knew about the party being for the other two, just not for themselves. Our mother put this all together. My middle sister was also given a surprise sweet sixteen by our mother. When I turned sixteen I was taken to dinner to a mediocre chain restaurant. Her excuse was that I was expecting a surprise party, and therefore unable to surprise. Well, yeah, of course I was expecting it. It was almost 30 years ago. I’m still pissed about it.

I'm so sorry you had to experience that... parents are so unfair sometimes. My father used my Bat Mitzvah as a birthday celebration for my grandfather. Also, for my sisters 16th birthday, my grandparents got her tickets to see the Blue Man group with some friends. But for my 16th birthday, they mailed me a $2.00 hallmark card. Both those incidents were several years ago, and I still am upset about them (especially the first one). Those types of things, you just can't forget, or get over. And these types of events make it so blatantly obvious who the parents/grandparents/caregivers favor, and put first. It's so infuriating.

Awww I'm sorry OP... I'm sure your friends and at least most of your family members will miss you!
