Today, my parents, who are divorced, were arguing over who has to pay for my bus pass. They decided they wouldn't pay unless the other one did too. Neither will pay the £60 it'll cost for my bus pass. I now have to walk to school every day, in freezing winter weather. It's 9 miles. Each way. FML

wow your parents suck..poor you! :( and that sucks that you have to walk 18 miles everyday...in cold weather :( FYL

1) It's snowing some places, so "winter weather" is not an unreasonable thing to say. 2) £60 is over 100 USD. Not necessarily that easy to come by, especially if... 3) OP may be a young kid with limited options. 4) Your parents totally suck. You could buy a pretty cheap bike and ride to school. And if you don't have the money, shovel snow (if there's snow) or do some silly jobs until you can afford a cheap solution.

9 miles both ways? It's not 9.5 one way then 8.5 the other. You are a moron. Hope you flunk out.

Geez, you guys are dicks here :/ First off, She might be a kid that can't get a job. I think someone said that in UK you might be able to get a job at 14, but its still nearly impossible. Which is the same for US, it is possible to get a job at 15 but it'll be very hard. But I would doubt that she has a job and if she doesn't have money and if the parents are still fighting then most likely she won't have money to buy a bike. And 100 bucks is kinda a lot if you don't have that much. Second, yes...we know she meant 9 miles back and forth, not 9 miles total. (Who thought it was 9 miles total??) Also, to 258, do you really have to be such an ass about the little details? The FML post gives you a limited amount of words, so its easier to just say 9. But either way, OP, your parents are being to anal about this. If you keep it up then they'll think that you're okay with it and won't pay at all. But try and talk to them about it or something. This is getting out of hand if none of them are willing to pay for your transportation to school.

And this is why I will never get divorced. Your parents are selfish idiots.

So buy a pass yourself? It's not like they're refusing you food or shelter. Stop bitching.

Why would the mileage be different? Your walking. One way streets don't apply. Why would you take a longer route half the time?

Perhaps the OP wanted to clarify that it wasn't 9 miles collectively, as in 4.5 miles each way.

I'd stay at home... And when the school calls and ask why I haven't been at school in two weeks, my parents can explain how they're too damn retarded to figure out who pays for the bus.
