Considering some of the shirts my dad owns, I wouldn't be surprised if the same thing happened to me. I don't think it'd be upsetting at all. Laugh about how fashion-challenged your dad was.

My ex saw some dvd's at my place and mocked about them asking who the hell watched those movies, I replied "my dad" he knew he had passed away a few months earlier. His face was priceless, he never made fun of anything after that.

I think you're being way too hard on him. I'm sorry that your dad passed away, but if the sweater hadn't been his, you probably wouldn't even have acknowledged the comment much at all. How was he to know?

Clearly you have not shared the story behind the sweater with your partner. Otherwise I am sure he would not even have worn it. so you deserve it
