I am worried because many republicans have undeniably said racist and terrible things about people like me. Current world events are supporting my valid worries over having a conservative roommate. Secondly, I have many a time had conversations with republicans and they have NEVER ended well. Not all republicans are mean spirited people, it goes that way with everything and everyone.

republicans... MOST of them are stupid some are smart. Palin for example is stupid and Lincoln was smart. Demos are mostly the same.

not all republicans are racist, but most are homophobic and racist towards different religions not ethnicity. so yes, bigots. republican party=bible/religious based party. so here is something: seperation of church and state, and freedom of/from religion. republicans worst enemy. and by freedom of religion i mean a religion different from christianity. so yes, 39 has reason to be afraid.

There are radicals who are crazy on both ends of the spectrum... I wouldn't want to live with either. However the moderates in both parties are capable of having intelligent, interesting discussions that won't turn violent. So OP you roommate was probably a crazy that you didn't want to live with anyway.

Unfortunately, the moderates are the ones no one hears about in the media. Maybe we need a 3rd or 4th party Democratic Republicans for Independent Moderation (DRIM) The DRIM party... Then we can give a "I have a DRIM" speech...
