Today, my sister asked me to help her set up for my niece's birthday party. Being the lazy person that I am, I got my niece to blow up the non-helium balloons. Apparently she's allergic to latex and I'll be the one paying for the hospital bill. FML

Today, my sisters and I were throwing my mom a birthday party. Since I'm not good at baking, I ordered her a really nice and expensive cake. As my daughter and I were headed out the door, she told me she had added some sprinkles to make it pretty. It was the silica beads from a package. FML

Today, is my little sister's 16th birthday. I spent my last $20 on a gift for her, cleaned the house for her party, made an ice cream cake, and got her a rose. What did I get? "I hope you kept the receipt for this. Oh, and stay in your room during my party." FML

Today, my sister asked me to grab her some toilet paper. I refused, so she grabbed my favorite shirt out of the laundry basket and used it to wipe. I was busy icing my sprained ankle. I couldn't walk. She knew this. FML

I voted YDI, but I think I may have been a bit hasty. Who's to say that the allergy was well known? I mean, I know parents today, and if their child is allergic to something, they don't keep it in the house. I think if they knew she was allergic to latex the wouldn't get latex non-helium balloons. If they knew about it and still got them, they should be the ones paying the hospital bill, because it's their own damn fault there were latex balloons in the first place. Chances are they didn't know, and what a way to find you. At least she's okay, right?

Um.. shouldn't her parents have payed? Usually a person who's allergic to latex can't even be in the same room with it.. It shouldn't have been there in the first place. FYL definitely

#9 and others~ My grandma did not know she was allergiac to latex till late in her life.. so maybe the parents and maybe that child did not know just because you are not around latex every day of your life.. It is not just something you know.. you have to have a reaction to find out.. Dude.. really.. at her own party.. bummer for her.. YDI...

Just wondering, but like with #21, 26, you made her blow up her own balloons on her birthday? isn't that a little mean? plus with all the people saying you should know what your allergic to, I'm 14 and I don't know what I'm allergic to, and I know I'm allergic to something, its in my records. (you might think that's a FML, but to me not really) Its not really your fault though, since you didn't know she was allergic, but couldn't you have just done it yourself, and #9 I agree with you but like it was sort of his fault for getting his niece to blow up the balloons, getting her sick, when he could of done it himself, so really its sort of his fault, and should pay, at least like half maybe.
