Don't most people help set up their own birthday parties (except surprise ones)? Totally FYL, how were you supposed to know?
So her daughters allergic to latex, her mom bought latex and has it all around the house, either she didn't know or she's a complete bitch, I wouldn't pay for the bill unless you deliberately did it, but thats just me.
Oh poor thing having to do anything remotely close to work on her birthday, especially blowing up balloons for her own birthday party that somebody else is paying for,I think she maybe mentally scarred after this. Really FYL, pretty sure even if your sister knew of the allergy she would of at least of mentioned it too you. Not to mention allergies can develop later in a person's life. #42 So your aunt knows every last detail about your medical history? My aunt wouldn't give a shit about the small ear infection I had as a kid, of course my mom did the responsible thing and told her about any allergies i had.
I definitely would NOT be paying for the hospital bill. I'd tell my sister to suck it.
I don't really understand why you have to pay for it. Obviously no one knew she was allergic to latex - or if they did, they had very little insight to allow latex balloons at the party.
This sucks... For both of you. The parents shouldve informed you about the allegey even if you are the aunt. FYL indeed
You're not paying, get that idea out of your head now. You didn't buy the balloons, its not your fault.

I voted YDI, but I think I may have been a bit hasty. Who's to say that the allergy was well known? I mean, I know parents today, and if their child is allergic to something, they don't keep it in the house. I think if they knew she was allergic to latex the wouldn't get latex non-helium balloons. If they knew about it and still got them, they should be the ones paying the hospital bill, because it's their own damn fault there were latex balloons in the first place. Chances are they didn't know, and what a way to find you. At least she's okay, right?
Allergic to latex? Poor girl.... ;)
