Today, my sister broke up with her boyfriend of 4 years because he hadn't "popped" the question. I've just spent the last 2 months helping him plan the perfect proposal. FML

This isn't your fault, or the boyfriend's. Your sister is a selfish little bitch. She could have asked him if she was so impatient. By the way, if she really did want to marry him and spend the rest of her life with him, then why couldn't she wait a while longer? Obviously she didn't love him that much if she can just toss him aside like that over something stupid. He's better off without her.

People, Who ever put "you totally deserved it" is an ass hole!! Its not her fault? She didnt know. If he explained everything to her than they would probably get back together.

Agreed^ Too many woman just want to "be married," doesn't matter to who. They have the idea that marriage will solve all those pesky relationship problems. Breaking up with someone because they didn't pop the question is the most counter-intuitive thing I've ever heard. "I want to spend the rest of my life with this person, but I want it to happen NOW."

This is one of the most true comments I've seen on FML.

132- Agree x1000. Couldn't have put it better myself.

I don't think it's a question of just being desperate to get married to someone. I think it's a question of wanting to marry that particular person, but thinking if they haven't asked after that long that they obviously don't feel the same way, so it's best to move on since you can't have a happy relationship when you're not on the same page with such a big issue. But yes, of course she could have tried asking him first before breaking up. This is a pretty old FML so I hope the OP told her sister about his plans and everything worked out for them in the end.

I've seen this before. but on the bfs side...

YDI for being stupid! WTH? why don't you just clear it up??? of course if there were more severe reasons than this one, then it doesn't make any sense to continue this relationship. what is this?? you should've explained it... or her boyfriend should've done it! the surprise may would've been ruined and he might have to make up a new way to propose to her, but is it that bad?

really sounds like a simple explanation would fix this problem. but that's just me.

and its a F your Life why??? If a boyfriend did not propose for four years then yeah move on, but he should really explain to her what he was planning on doing.
