MainePains tells us more.
Hello, OP here! Apparently, the reason he has been crying is because the high school he goes to a lot of rumors are flying around- about Ebola coming to Maine. Thanks for the advice, but I have to say- a few of you are Maineiacs.

It's a serious threat at least he acknowledges it
2012 a study with Ebola showed that animals, in separate cages but shared a singular airflow, all contracted Ebola (so its not "airborne" tecniquelly but it is in practical terms with specific strains) . Quick google search shows that peer reviewed experiment. Ebola is a big deal because the incubation rate mutated from a measurement of days to now closer to a month. It used to burn itself out because hosts couldn't travel far since they were so sick so fast. Your son has a right to be afraid. People who aren't have only listened to the news and have no idea what this virus' potential destruction really is.
my question if it can only be spread by bodily fluids why is every medical professional covered head to toe it protective gear, they don't when treating hiv/aids/hepatitis patients because those diseases can only be passed by bodily fluids I also find it funny that the WHO have only just stated that it is possible it can be spread by coughing and sneezing I think media and the governments are down playing it because If everyone feared or stopped travelling economies would crumble
It is spread from the little mucus and saliva droplets released during a cough or sneeze. cover your mouth and wash your hands it will not only prevernt the so called ebola "pandimic" but also the spread of diseases 100x more common. There is a reason it has only killed a few thousand in Africa rather than hundreds of thousands world wide. In terms of the super bugs ebola is a lightweight.
I live in Abilene texas, 3 hours away from the ebola "outbreak" and I'm not even worried. He has nothing to cry about, Lol.
There was only one case in America and it was in Dallas, Texas. (Near where I live) this Ebola thing is so over the top. Just don't go playing in anyone's bodily functions and you're fine. The guy that was in Dallas has passed(rest in paradise), I think your son is just a hypochondriac... Just a smidgen.
Fly him to cowboys stadium! Nobody ever catches anything there!
That should say something about your parenting.
To be fair, the disease is legitimately terrifying, even if chance of exposure is nil.
This could work to your advantage! Tell him you only catch Ebola if you've been doing drugs, stealing, smoking, doing poorly in school, or dealing with loose women. Parenting made easy.
Add in that those who sass their parents get Ibare which is much worse.
i live in dallas and that is actually the reason why you dont describe or explain ebola to anyone 6yrs or younger
There's pretty much a .000000001% chance he could get Ebola, so I don't know why he would be crying about this.
Thats much too high a chance more like 6.02x10^-23 % chance at its current incubation rate.

The Maine thing is that you explain to him he's safe.
Ebola has been blown totally out of proportion, yes, its a hazard in Africa with over three thousand deaths but it won't end up being the next zombie apocalypse as is always portrayed with movies, we have unrealistic views of the world and the news goes a long way in brainwashing us.
