He's clearly got talent. You should look into ways he can use that as a career
"Hacking" school systems in not as you would put as 'genius'. Yes your son is very smart individual, however from experience the school thinks they only know what they are taught at school. They should change to a higher quality security system, as it is even free. Furthermore, depending on his age, my money is on him actually doing well and saying he 'hacked' it for attention, or as a quiet threat to any siblings. I remember I just got good grades one time and did not even intent to, I did not study, hand in some assignments or do much homework. If your son did do it, as I feel as a 15 year old I am obligated to say, Like a boss!
Oh. My. God. Real life Ferris Beuller (I think that's how it's spelled lol).
Grades don't show intelligence. I don't care or try in school and still get A's and was the only student ever in my school to get recommended to skip a honors class and go straight to AP
grades aren't about smart, it's work ethic. your sob had shitty work ethic
Grades don't show intelligence. They are about how well you memorize something.

You might want to look into private school or advanced placement classes, or something along those lines. I'm sure this sounds presumptuous, and I'm sorry for that in advance, but it sounds like his current school situation isn't challenging him enough.
I tend to agree with #1 on this one. I've known a lot of genius kids in my life. Most of them got horrible grades despite being smarter than anyone around them. A gifted program may be helpful in challenging your child and motivating them to do better.
