Why is she going to all the trouble hoarding coins? If she wants to save up, she just needs to press Ctrl + S.
let's introduce you to a concept of beating your children
See if you can repair it? Maybe you'll get more money back that what you'd expect
Hopefully the laptop can be taken apart and the coins removed without damaging it, or the machine is still under warranty. Whatever the case, at least she'll know not to do something like this again. I know it's frustrating but children tend to be, chin up OP, in a year or so you'll look back and laugh about this.
Time to have a talk about asking permission before touching things that aren't hers...
Most places let you return computers within 30 days of purchase. Just take it back, say something didn't work right with it, and get a new one. Then keep it out of reach of your stepdaughter
When I was 3-4 years old whenever I found a button I would put it away in a safe place. That safe place being the VHS player, which kept breaking 'for no reason'. A nice repair man finally showed my mom the reason why and she started putting away the buttons I found herself. Kids.
There should be some kind of message saying, "keep away from the reach of children". Also, any adult should know better.

At least she is giving you some money to repair it.
She's paying the computer toll.
