Well, at least he didn't admit to having a 2-yr-old child that you heretofore knew nothing about. However, not trusting you upfront from day one with the news of him already being a father doesn't bode well though.

I think my biggest concern with him just telling this to you now is, what else he might be lying about. That’s a huge thing to keep a secret for such a long time, and coming from experience; chances are if he lied to you about that, that’s not all he has lied to you about.

He may have had it with a married woman. Legally he would have no rights to the child or owe child support. That is the kind of secret you can not share, it impacts to many people.
