Today, one of my employees filed a complaint against me. He claims that I "pick on him" and make him do things I "wouldn't do". Apparently, making him do his job and trying to convince him to wear clean clothes that don't smell like garbage is considered a bad thing. FML

OP here to explain further, I'm a manager for a big and tall clothing store and hygiene is covered in the training manual. he was wearing the EXACT Same clothing everyday he worked(multiple days in a row). the stains, wrinkles, abd odor constantly increased. I really don't feel like I was bullying him and I even offered to help purchase him new clothes. he took offense to that as well and went on a rant about how his family is ridiculously wealthy. his work ethic was atrocious, he stopped every

What a moron. I hope you get him fired.

Maybe you've been coming off as ruder than you think.

I'm in management and trust me the harassment laws are ****** you can't even tell someone to do their job properly or you risk getting in shit....

I think there is probably more to the story. It's a pretty brave thing to file a compliant against a manager (if that's what you are). You run the risk of just being picked on more, no one believing you and not to mention feeling uncomfortable if nothing is done.

Yeah actually I do. I've just worked in a fast food place where the manager was a really bad bully and where I was scared to file a complaint for the reasons I mentioned above. She made everyone feel stupid and would blame some of her mistakes on employees because she didn't want to get in trouble with her boss which was her husband. Even though I was bullied by her alot it wasn't as much as other employees because I was actually at the top her favorites. And I could totally picture her picking on only some employees about there work and clothing as well as exaggerating about it. While letting others like me get away with it. I'm not saying that was or wasn't the case in this fml. Just that I consider it brave since I myself had trouble doing it and I now regret it.

I was bullied, as well as other co-workers by my boss. She eventually got put into a position where she no longer has people under her. She made our lives a living hell. I hear ya.

His stench and claims would only be acceptable if you two work as garbagemen.

Garbageman still need to do their job, so no.

I did some temp work at a scrapyard where I had to throw expired beer cans and bottles into a "crusher". Needless to say, after 8 hours I smelled like an alcoholic with a strong side of rotten matter. Then I had a 2 hour total bus/Skytrain ride home- in rush hour. When I got home, I probably spent a good 20-30 mins in the shower. I smelt worse than when I did some work for a waste company

Just tell him he makes a better garbage man and should look into that field.

last job I had, it was in the rule book and was explained very clearly that all employees must wear clean clothes, and must shower and wear deodorant.
