Today, one of my employees filed a complaint against me. He claims that I "pick on him" and make him do things I "wouldn't do". Apparently, making him do his job and trying to convince him to wear clean clothes that don't smell like garbage is considered a bad thing. FML

OP here to explain further, I'm a manager for a big and tall clothing store and hygiene is covered in the training manual. he was wearing the EXACT Same clothing everyday he worked(multiple days in a row). the stains, wrinkles, abd odor constantly increased. I really don't feel like I was bullying him and I even offered to help purchase him new clothes. he took offense to that as well and went on a rant about how his family is ridiculously wealthy. his work ethic was atrocious, he stopped every

We had a guy at my workplace who sounds just like OP's employee. We all tried to tell him, diplomatically and bluntly, to shower and wash his clothes, and to do his work properly - nothing ever changed. Some people are just too lazy!

Not defending him, but maybe the guys down in his luck. Maybe that's why he can't clean his clothes. I'm not siding with him OP, just saying looking into things couldn't hurt.

Make a list of his responsibilities (including good hygiene) and ask him to sign it. It's always good to have paper trail for when you fire him for the unwashed, whiny bitch I imagine him to be.

I once had to tell a rookie firefighter that he needed to wear deodorant, and flush the toilet. Another officer had to tell him that he wasn't allowed to sleep naked when spending the night at the fire station. All of these directions were met with shock and disappointment on his part.

Hahaha the name. Nerd moment. Too bad you can't just zat the dumbass!

If you have hiring and/or firing power I'd let him go. Bad personal hygiene is not good for a business. He is probably needing a good shock like that to make him understand the importance of maintaining a good, clean, physical presence. It's sad that in today's society so many people fail to take responsibly of their own actions and blame others for their problems. FYL OP, correct it though by firing them.
