Today, teachers were pulling students out of class to announce valedictorian, salutatorian, and other awards for graduation. I got pulled out of class by one of them, and I got a little excited since I wasn't expecting an award. It was to tell me that my sister was staying after school. FML

For those of you thinking my grades must be awful, I have straight As and am a top student in my class. There are a few people I know above me, which is why I didn't expect to get an award. A girl can hope, right? When I got home, my boyfriend made me my own award so I couldn't be happier.

Awards are overrated anyways. At least, thats what I tell my empty trophy case.

Hey at least you got out of class for a little bit right?

Now you know how Leonardo DiCaprio feels at the Oscars, when he hears his name announced it on stage, but it's only because they need him to move his Rolls-Royce

It's okay OP! Also, if it makes you feel better, these are something you apply for at my school. So if you didn't, that's okay.

Congratulations, now you know how Leonardo DiCaprio feels

I've had something similar happen except I was told one of my friends had accidentally shot himself cleaning his shotgun.

Wow. That took a dark turn real fast. Sorry for your loss?

Just saying I had a similar situation although it was "dark". He lived actually and just walks with a limp now.

"Been hit with a few shells but I do__ walk with a limp."

The Siblings Who Care Award is not just about being an older sibling . It's about siblings who demonstrate commitment, scholarship, and courage. I now present this award to OP for living through the disappointments that sometimes come with being an older sibling and for demonstrating these three merits. *lots of clapping, tears, and kisses*

awe what a bummer ): but hey, congrats on graduating!!

If you are the top in the class, how could you not expect an award? Don't you get those awards for good grades?

OP is *a* top student, not *the* top. In a school where you can have multiple people with 4.0 or higher GPAs, it can really come down to the nitty-gritty. Sometimes people just don't know until they're about to graduate.

You get gold medals for submitting a successful FML and for following up on your FML. 2 gold medals on a website makes up for not getting one in school, right? :)

So it's. Not an fml. More like a "meh" moment in a day that was probably fine

#46 My graduating class top ten all had above 4.0. My valedictorian had a 4.99 or something equally ridiculous and went to Yale on a full ride. Tenth had a 4.2 and enough credits he was starting college off as a junior. Some classes are stacked with over achievers. I knew plenty of other AP kids with 4.0+s that didn't get a single award at graduation because my class was ridiculous. Good job on your grades even if you didn't get awards OP!
