This is a prime example why I'm scared to give homeless people money. I get nervous that I'm going to hand money to someone and they're going to by drugs with it. Or they're going to be ungrateful with how much I give. I now just give money to this homeless newspaper here in my town. Contributions go towards the homeless shelters.
Why are you afraid of what someone might do with the money you give them? Technically it's their money now , so if they need a little smack to get through their shitty life as a transient, then that's their choice.
"I said a dollar bitch!"
I feel there is more to this than originally posted. I see no reason why a homeless person would yell that after being given $10.
Drugs probably.
I live in this area and there are so very many with psych disorders that just can't help themselves. And being a border state, we have a lot of immigrants that stand around at the 7-11 near me trying for day work. You just never know what someone really wants or needs. All you can do is try.
Trust me, in Arizona, I handed a guy a five and he looked at me and said "That's it? Cheap f***." I snatched the bill back and walked away.
That's why I don't give money to homeless people.
I work downtown where there is quite a bit of homeless people, don't take it too hard, most of them aren't mentally right
a lot of homeless people have mental problems so he might not have meant it. also as someone who was homeless (and an addict), i wouldn't give them money as if they're addicts it'll go on that. a hot meal or a blanket or a cup of tea is usually better. but the effort behind your actions is lovely so don't feel bad at all. (:
I donate at work, and I donate blood. Not part of United Way to have my donation help you, or you don't need blood? Then I'm out of ideas. I'm not giving green dollar bills. I am not buying you drugs. I gave a man a ham sandwhich when he said he was starved. He tried to peddle it for drugs in a back alley in Chinatown in Chicago. He said he and his daughter were starving! Never again. Not even a damn sandwhich is gonna help.
Atleast you tried to do the right thing, not your fault the guy was a prick.
