I agree with the posters who have suggested for you to look at yourself objectively to see if there's anything that needs changing. Certainly, we've all had bad or overly strict teachers, but those who were truly disliked to the point of not one person making a sound for them would be in their own realm of awfulness. What complaints have you heard consistently from the kids or their parents? As some have said, perhaps loosening up and being nicer would make a difference. (Homework doesn't have to be avoided, but make sure you're not givingn 2+ hours a night of it!)
LOL, we have a few teachers like that at our schools. The ones nobody likes because they are a) always in a bad mood, b) creepers, or c) just plain mean. All the people saying "become a cooler teacher" you guys are idiots. You can't just become all soft and let the children to whatever they want or they won't learn anything. I have a teacher that is always in a bad mood, even if we're trying to be good. She just has an attitude problem and she could change that. That's still mean though. And awkward for you. FYL.
Trust me, if nobody clapped, you're a bad teacher. I don't mean hard, I mean overly strict and unfair. Seriously. Chill out and be a better teacher.
be nicer
agree with #123. You must be an awful teacher for them not to even clap once. OK, even jerk teachers have some supporters, you must be terrible. You're probably one of those hard-assed idiots who give students detentions for forgetting a pencil or getting a bad grade on a 5 point quiz. If thats the case, YDI. Show some empathy, realize that your students are human beings, not social, dangerous deviants who only want to vandalize stuff and have sex. I hate teachers who think they are SO superior. Haha, can you tell I've had this experience with a teacher? ;)

Hard teachers are usually the ones that teach life lessons... I know mine were.
YDI for being a bad teacher. FYL for having dumb children. Either one works.
