Today, we got a new employee at work. I said hi, and told her that if she needed help figuring out our computer system, then to give me a call. She promptly accused me of sexual harassment and filed a complaint against me. FML

OP here. Some of you noticed it said "woman." Yes, I'm a woman. That's why her complaint made no sense. Glad to report, though, that after a couple days HR got back to me and said I was off the hook, and told her that if she makes any more accusations like that, she'll be fired. She can't even look me in the eye now.

Maybe she wants your job or something. :/

Don't worry OP, she clearly is a trouble maker. If on her first day, she is already accusing people to sexually harass her, I don't think she will last long. Even if you hit on her, the wise thing to do is push back and be professional about it, especially when you're new and no one knows you. Then there is always time to take actions if that becomes an issue. Her attitude is pretty dumb. People are more likely to believe you than her who just arrived.

He left out the part where he raised his eyebrows and said "if you know what I mean..."

It's weird and show the reality to your employer.

I would have logic'd her to death, and said "Excuse me? Sexual harassment is, by definition, SEXUAL talk, favors, flirting, dirty talk, etc. I did no such thing- the only thing I did was offer to help you, as a totally platonic coworker, with your computer if it ever has a problem, because some computers here have had problems. I was being a GOOD coworker and you should be thanking me. If you assumed anything dirty from my statement, it is because of YOUR mind being in the wrong place, NOT mine." People like her piss me off, it's impossible to have a good productive work environment when you have women who wont even allow communication because they see everything sexually, and then anytime a guy they dont see as "hot" or "tall" enough talks to them ABOUT THE JOB, they think "ew hes ugly why is he talking to me" and then they assume a sexual overtone and assume he is hitting on them, and then they complain because they wouldnt wanna have sex with the guy talking to them. When its like, jesus woman, hes not hitting on you! Hes just trying to do his f*cking job!

See, if you people were up on the latest hip lingo you would know that "I will help you with our computer systems" is code for "Let's be lesbian lovers".

Perhaps she thought you were sexist in assuming since she is a woman she would automatically have trouble with the computer

OP is also female, so how could her assuming her female coworker might have trouble with the computer system be sexist?
