Today, weeks after I paid extra for faster shipping, I received confirmation that my paperwork for overseas voting has been received. Too bad the deadline in my state was yesterday. Thanks, Postal Service, for the consistency of your failures. FML

Today, I learned that I'm not registered to vote. Apparently filling out the form and signing it in the county clerk's office was no guarantee and I was supposed to follow up until I received mail confirmation. It's now too late to fix. FML

Today, I rushed to the post office to mail an important document for the study abroad program that I'd applied for, which was due in a few days. Just as the envelope slipped out of my hand and into the mail box, I caught a glimpse of the upper right corner where there was supposed to be a stamp. FML

Today I found out that paying $40 for next-day shipping doesn't ensure that you'll receive the item the next day or even the next week. I assumed it was my fault for ordering too late into the holiday season. Turns out they never shipped it. When I finally received it 10 days late, it was the wrong item. FML

Today, I bought stamps to send a letter. For some unknown reason, instead of putting the stamp on the letter, I posted the letter and the stamp booklet into the postbox. FML

Could be deliberate. I'd report this if I were you. There have been previous cases of places trying to deliberately avoid postal votes because they know which way they'll go.

#19 you need to reread both the FML and OP'S response. It got delayed while in the US after being filled out and mailed out from Germany. How else would the German post office know jack shit about its whereabouts as in that it got to the US in only a few days. On that note, some else mentioned the government should go by the stamped date of when it was sent out and I do believe this is correct. So, I also think OP should be fine and their vote should count c:

Vote counted! Hi, OP here again, if anyone is still reading the comments on this one, here's an update: I called the County Elections Division for the county I vote in and explained the situation to them. They let me go ahead and fill out a ballot anyway and said they would deliberate whether my vote could be counted or not. I checked back afterwards and they counted it!
