Okay as crazy as it sounds, she was only trying to help. It sucks that you will have to buy a new computer now but it's not the end of the world.

It's possible that she saved your house and the lives of people in it. Computers can and do catch fire. Sure, water isn't the smartest idea, but how was she supposed to know -- I'm guessing she's pretty young. Assume that your computer was ruined before the incident, pull the hard drive, and move on with life!

Yeah, could be that the CPU cooler stopped working or fell off the CPU or something. Motherboards are supposed to have over-temperature and fan RPM sensors in them to help guard against that, but they aren't always reliable either. OP, your sister could very well have saved the house from burning down. Be grateful, or at least don't disbelieve her out of hand.
