Today, while DJing at a jumpin' wedding reception, my speaker system conked out. I hadn't brought any backup equipment, and 500 guests had the unfortunate luxury of dancing to the sounds of a portable CD player someone brought in from their car. FML

Today, I was at a karaoke bar. After a few drinks, I gave it a go. Halfway through “Total Eclipse of the Heart” I got so into it, I knocked over the mic stand. The mic flew off, hit the DJ, who then hit the emergency stop button, cutting off the music. I froze as the bar erupted into laughter. I did get a free Coke for my “performance,” which was something. As a professional, you should always have a backup. I hope they didn't pay you.

Always bring extra equipment!!!!!!!!

Were you pushing your speakers to the limit, or did the amp fail? I've had a speaker just quit on me before, for no reason whatsoever, it popped out and smoked, even though it was at a normal volume.

Atleast it was something to remember for the couple in the future. Maybe not good memories, but it's something.

Every DJ should always bring extra equipment just in case. So that sucks, but you also kind of deserve it. Maybe you didn't have enough room to bring everything, so I'll give you the benefit of the doubt, but you should still be prepared.
