Typical female driver.
More accidents are caused by people talking to PASSENGERS than people on their cell phones. I'm not saying cell phones don't cause accidents but eating, changing the radio station and talking to your friend in the back seat cause more and are perfectly legal. "Would be murderers" just shows you level of ignorance on how to interpret statistics. Also causing a panic like you did just shows you are equally irresponsible of a driver. That's like running into a theater and screaming "FIRE!" because you see someone smoking and want them to stop...YDI
Actually, in Oregon, there is no "violation" called "driving while distracted"; that is a colloquial phrase for the violation called "unlawful cell phone use". "Unlawful cell phone use" varies from state to state, but in most states does not cover using the iPod in a stereo, using the navigation tool, having it on speaker but still in your hand (as long as its not "to your ear") and it does not ban cell phone use by cops. Eating, changing the radio station, and talking to a person in your car ARE not covered by a specific law. You can still be ticketed but only if you are deemed "unsafe" (I.e. swerving all over the road, driving too fast or too slow, ignoring traffic control devices, etc.) which are covered by other laws entirely.
I'm with you on this one. Talking on the phone while driving is unacceptable. You showed how distracted this woman was which just further proves why they shouldn't be doing it. All the people telling you to mind your own business should remember "If you tolerate this, then your children will be next".
Yeah, not everybody has nerves of steel when it comes to random honking. The woman should not have been on the phone but there are better ways of handling it than scaring a "dangerous" driver. Besides, OP didn't even say she was weaving or make any indication that she was dangerous other than being on the phone. So there was no reason to show that he was disgusted by honking the horn and scaring not only someone who is "distracted" and the other drivers around them.
You do realize you're an idiot, right? Proper show of disgust: Pull off the road, call the local non-emergency police line and report a dangerous driver at the intersection of where and youareat. Laugh as they get a ticket. Improper method of showing your disgust: Honk the horn scaring her and countless other drivers. Wreck a car, endanger lives needlessly, still not actually teach anybody anything. Except not to be a honking douchenozzle.
