Today, while driving with my puppy in the passenger seat, he jumped out of the window. FML

I hope you stopped the car and went after him.

You deserve it. I don't understand why people think it is okay to open the window big enough for pets to get out. And don't you know how dangerous escaping pet is to other drivers on the road?

That's why you just put the windows down enough so you and your dog can both get air but not enough for him to jump out

There are so many options for dog seat belts or bars to keep them in the back it's ridiculous. Maybe I'm an over protective puppy mommy, but I even have a life jacket for mine for when he goes to the gulf cause sometimes it gets a bit deep. I really wish op would tell us if the dog is ok or not. I know some of this falls under a learning experience of being a pet owner, but a lot of it is common sense too. Puppies get into as much as toddlers. You really do have to puppy proof your surroundings to prevent accidents. When Sid was little I wouldn't let him out back by himself because of the pool. I have cameras up so I can keep an eye on him when he is out now and a GPS on his collar since huskies like to run.

OMG!! YDI!! When i ride with my dog i keep the window high enough her nose barely fits!!

I'm sick of this happening to people and then expecting sympathy. Poor Rufus jumped off the ute and got dragged behind, poor Spot jumped out the window. What killed or hurt your dog was your own stupidity. When i have to drive with my puppy the window is only down enough so she can stick her nose out and she is tied to the seat. This could have easily been avoided. I just hope the dogs ok

You're an idiot, OP. If you need to open a window, make sure it's not wide enough for it to jump out. It doesn't know any better. It's just common sense. I hope your puppy is ok.

Well that sucks, but you probably shouldn't have had the window open wide enough for him to jump. Common sense yo.

YDI, your dog should be secured in a kennel, seat belt, or in a basket attached to the headrest. IMO, this is on par with letting your kids go unrestrained in your car.I hope your dog is okay and didn't suffer from your stupidity.

I hope that puppy doesn't suffer from your stupidity.
