amen to that!
wait, did you say you worked at dunkin donuts or 7-11? lolz jk
Wow congrats for being stupid and not realizing that your Indian boss was one of the audience members listening to you make a remark about Indian accents
I really don't see how imitating someone's accent can be construed as racist. I guess its down the left-wing fascists that crawl out of the woodwork, and spew crap.
It really is frustrating that people try to make things like this political, as if only liberals can be bothered not to be rude. "Indian accent piece" usually involves someone making fun of the way you talk (which is not nice) and a mix of stereotypes. If you were joking around with an Indian accent, would you just say "Please file these papers" or "Hey, how was your weekend"? Not exactly a funny routine.
The way I see it is that the Liberals ARE the problem - more so, in my country, I suppose. "making fun" of someone, as you put it, is NOT racist. If I was to mock your accent, would I be racist? No. Our cultures / sense of humour are pretty much aligned - We would laugh at each other, and appreciate the joke. I believe some cultures (or sub-cultures) look to exploit the "race card" - because they can. And because appeasers are letting them. Sad really. My country is being destroyed by Political Correctness. Ya know, sweetie... Liberal Left-Wing BS.
I'm not sure who you are referring to by "our cultures". Making fun of someone isn't racist but racist people often do it. Recently my mum was mocked for her accent and there was nothing funny about it. I can make fun of her because she's my mum but I have no doubt that the man who assumed accented English equals a lesser intelligence was racist. He was certainly a conservative. If you read my response to the comment below, you may realise my point.
My mother is korean and I always mess around with her accent and she don't seem to mind especially when she imitates me and my slang ...lmao
Try running a business and have to deal with issues like this. Put it this way, your mom may not have a problem with it, but another person may, and if they talk to the boss about it, and it appears nothing has been done to rectify it, then the lawsuit for harassment comes into play. It has nothing to do with race either, if a person feels that they are working in a hostile work environment, they have the right to speak up about it
Your mum...It's pretty safe to assume you and your mum are close. I have friends of many different races, nationalities, and ethnicities. We rag on each other all the time. But I know first-hand that they have my back when a stranger says things to me like "me love you long time" or other racist nonsense. I have a great sense of humour but if you don't know me, I can't tell the difference between you and the actual racist idiot spewing that rubbish. The "race card" is overplayed. How sad that it has to be played at all. /rant
finally someone who makes sense ^^
Can't we all just get along without people calling everyone racist? -_-
Know your whole viewing audience. That Jeff Dunham comedian uses stereotypes that are super funny. I'm half Indian and things such as these wouldn't bother me. However, you never know who would get offended. Just don't do it in front of someone that could fire you or make your work life hell.(: YDI

I hope your boss performed his "firing his insolent underling's stupid ass" piece.
They weren't laughing at you anyway. They were laughing at the fact that your boss was standing behind you.
