Tell your mother its your wedding day not hers and you like this dress and that if she doesn't like the dress she doesn't have to come to the wedding that's just rude what she did
i'm sorry op but your mom is right... i'd prefer the person i take with me tell me the truth even if it sucks cuz i originally liked the dress. would you prefer she not tell you and everyone at church think exactly the samething she did.... although she could of said it in a much nicer way you don't deserve nor is it a fyl... you just tried on a dress that didn'T fit you that well when trying on big event dresses like thats its sure thats gonna happen
Sounds like mom could be a little jealous? Maybe she didn't get to wear the dress she wanted down the aisle and now being callous to you is her way of dealing with that anger/disappointment. Something like this is also the reason I'm glad my mom will not be coming with me to try on dresses, being disowned has its advantages.
Her opinion not yours...you liked the dress and so that's the dress you pick end of story...
Your mom is just trying to keep you from looking hideous on the day when all eyes are on you. There are dress styles that make normal-weight women look heavy and chubby ones look like whales. (I don't understand how those styles endure.) Anyways, you need to be honest about your body type and get a dress that is most flattering. Your mom could have said it more tactfully, but, then again, the cruel truth may have gotten your attention where polite critiques failed.
Everyone has the ability to be mean. Even parents..... but a mother should know to phrase her comments in a kind or delicate way towards her child. Pick something that feels good on you. beauty shines from within, and on the day you marry the person you love, you'll be radiant no matter what dress you pick.
That's terrible, funny as hell but terrible

Better now than at the wedding.
Honesty is the best policy. She could've been nicer about it, but you can still try on plenty more dresses to find the one you LOVE instead of the one you LIKE ;)
