By _Asykes_ - This FML is from back in 2015 but it's good stuff

Today, I started a new school, after moving from England to New York. People only talked to me just to hear my accent. FML

I've experienced the same thing. It might be annoying at first OP but try to use it to your advantage to get to know people. You'll be thankful for your uniqueness down the road I promise!

At least people wanted to talk to you, plus do you know how many people find British accent sexy?

I feel your pain I'm an Aussie living in the uk and people always ask me to talk to them they love my accent. Give it time you will get use to it message me if you want

that's not a bad thing, it makes you more interesting to them.

It's a novelty for them. After you're in the school for awhile, they'll get used to it and you'll find friends who hardly notice it.

I am American and I have heard British accents so much that I don't even care if I hear them anymore.

As an American in London, I experienced something very similiar except that people often ridicule me afterwards and try out their own "American" accent which is usually sounds like John Wayne having a stroke.

When I lived overseas people used to talk to me to practice their English. It didn't hurt me to be nice and it won't hurt you.

Yeah, wish I had your problem. At least ppl want to talk to you.

It will only get more annoying before people start saying (like some of us americans) that's one sexy ass accent wish I had it...

Americans can be annoying assholes big ones at times but don't take it so offensively in my opinion you're very pretty and a british accent only makes you more desirable...

Every non native accent is attractive because you're not used to hearing it.
