Well, if you can't fire him personally, do it professionally.
You're the boss, he's probably being a cocky little shit and taking the piss so put him on a PIP. Make sure you write it to show up his particular failings and then fire him.
You can't fire him but you can make sure he gets all the shitty tasks FOREVER.
