Unreasonable

Today, I am one year away from getting a university degree. Unfortunately, my parents just kicked me out because I wouldn't drop out and work for free at our family's gas station. I'm now broke, homeless, and have no way to pay for school. FML

No offense but your parents are idiots

well your parents are assholes. no real parent would do that, a real parent would make sure you graduate college and get a better job in order to be more successful then them.

look for friends to room with until you can find any type of job, go to your school admin and try to get some benefits, and hopefully by the fall you can be in an appartment and have a job, then possibly finish uni later if you cant afford it now. but DONT GIVE UP ON COLLEGE it is what separates you from the crowd.

we cant believe everything someonebposts online, especially since the other party cant defend itself. sounds like OP doesnt work since hes broke and was living at home for free. doesnt pay rent and probably doesnt help around the house. whats wrong with the parents wanting him to help with the family business? maybe hes been a year away from graduating for 3 years straight and his parents want him to stop messing around. all im saying is we only have information from one side and he sure isnt going to tell us he freeloads from his parents and never contributes

Bullshit apologetics - rendering your offspring homeless is 99 times out of 100 never the right choice, especially when they're still legally dependents. Making your offspring work at your business for *free* (as in, no payment, and no, food and board doesn't count) is *illegal*, 100 times out of 100. Either way, if he was going to a university, he was likely not a moocher. Parents who expect their offspring to provide free labor at businesses fit the label more.

I've known several people who have been kicked out of their homes and become homeless because of rude parents. If you have a life changing event like this and you don't have a place to go back to you can talk to your university. They will typically find you a dorm room to stay in as soon as possible and let you stay all summer as well. Also most of the kids that got kicked out got nearly free college and just had minimal loans but they didn't pay a penny out of pocket.

I'm sure I'll be downvoted, but might I suggest the air force? You will be trained in a skill set, fed, clothed and provided a roof over your head and given an opportunity to pursue higher education not only whole you're in but even after you've served your contract. Who knows, you may even like it and end up staying in. I was a Marine myself and albeit, a far different experience than the Air Force, it gave me many opportunities I otherwise would not have had.

It's kinda ****** up that sometimes the only option for homeless youth is the military... and sometimes they're excluded if they've ever taken certain prescription drugs for psychiatric care. Not downvoting you for that, just commenting on the state of affairs.

They payed for most of his degree and let him live with them during it. Judging by the timing of the post I'd say he was asked to work for free and help out during the break or be kicked out. If his parents have payed for everything then did he not have a job ever? Doesn't he have savings? Lots of people don't have help from there parents and still go to college! Why can't he? He only has to pay himself for ONE YEAR! He should consider himself lucky!

That sucks but now you get to join the millions of other people who take out student loans and work to pay for university......

Yeah, you can go to school, you just don't want loans. Welcome to the suck! :) Sorry for your luck OP, but chin up, by the time I'm done with school, I'll be so far in debt, I won't be able to take a shit without paying the government some money.

There are options, if you have a phone and access to a computer. Make some calls, do some research, and you can get the help you need. There might even be a shelter or home you can go to, if they're in your area. :) Don't give up hope, there's always a way out.

Kill your parents, simple solution. ¯_(ツ)_/¯
