Today, I listened to a voicemail from my mom about how she misses me and can't wait to see me when I get back from vacation. Thinking she hung up, my mother then had a conversation with my aunt about how quiet the house is without me and how she'd be blessed if I didn't come home. FML

Today, I called my mom for the first time in a few weeks, just to chat because I miss her. When she picked up, the first thing she said was, "Why are you calling? What's wrong? Do you have swine flu??" When I told her that I didn't, and I just wanted to chat, she hung up. FML

Today, my mother knocked on the door of my room at 7am. I am currently over 300 miles from home, on a vacation to get away from my overbearing family. I told none of them where I was going. FML

Today, my parents left for work before I had to leave for school and I decided to skip. I stayed by the phone, expecting the school to call so I could pose as my parent and excuse my absence. The phone rings and I pick up. It's my Mom, calling to leave my dad a message on the machine. FML

Today, my mom called 5 times and I didn't pick up due to being in class at college. I was later called to the front desk, where my mom was crying. She said she was worried about me because I didn't say "I love you" to her after she dropped me off at college. FML

Today, I heard that my mom is coming back from France, where my brother lives. I have lived in the same place, exactly 45 minutes from my mother, for 6 years. She hasn't visited me once, but has been out of state to see my sibling. FML

Today, my wife came back from a three-day moms' retreat, and was mad I didn't immediately want to spend time with her. She called me 68 times (yes, I counted) while she was gone, so it was really like she never left. FML

Um, because OP was on vacation, doeesn't mean that they paid for it. They might have went with an academic group, or with a friend... FYL OP for what your mom said...

It's so annoying when people on here start bashing anyone 18 or over for still living with their parents. Just because the law in this country says that parents don't HAVE to support their kids after that age does not mean everyone should automatically be ready to move out. Also a person's frontal lobe(front part of the brain that helps us make rational decisions) isn't even done growing completely at that age, so it's okay to be living with your parents even until your early 20s as long as you're all mature enough to respect each other. To the original poster, I'm sure she misses you but probably does like the little bit of quiet and free time to herself. Everyone likes to be alone at some point so consider this as her vacation for herself and don't take it seriously.

Who cares!!! My parents told me all the time they couldn't wait for me to leave. I know my parents love me, but when I'm there I have people over all the time and it annoys the shit out of them. People talk shit behind peoples backs all the time. Who cares!!!

even if the OP is a racket, that is still such a horrible thing to say. "be blessed if u didn't come home." I doubt she'd still b saying that if something happened to you.

One day my brother and I were on the phone with my mom on speaker asking her to pick up some fast food for us. She was already out and in the same parking lot as the place with my grandpa. She thought she hung up then went on this massive screaming binge talking shit about us. My whole family is crazy(her especially, seriously she needs meds) so that's not out of the ordinary; we got more of a kick out of catching her then anything.
