You can't win

By fatty fatfuck - 10/05/2020 17:00

Today, after losing my job and being quarantined alone, I realized I've gained quite a bit of weight due to depression. I decided to do something about it and walk around my neighborhood. A group of teens followed me laughing and hurling insults until I cried. FML

I'm so sorry you had to go though that. I couldn't imagine what that must feel like. I would take this chance to use that as fuel to improve my life and lose that weight so you can shove it in their faces. don't get discouraged and stay on track and you'll eventually feel better. there are numerous sites and call lines to help with depression, weight loss, and unemployment. hang in there and we're here for you if you need us.

I'm sorry for you! But: don't let that get you down! You can and are obviously willing to change and do something to get better but the others are and always will be assholes!

You also have to think that most of them have already peaked In life and it’s all going to go downhill from here! You can shed a few pounds they will be shitty humans forever! Don’t let that stop you! Keep up your health journey and have fun!

That's awful and I'm surprised by how often I see that kind of testimony. I mean, being overweight or even obese isn't an oddity nowadays - sadly a lot of people are concerned. It's especially true in the US where the obesity rate is over 42% and more than half of the population is overweight, but a lot of other countries are well on their way toward this. So it's weird to see something which is statistically pretty average (and will probably represent the majority in some countries in a decade or so if the issue isn't tackled on more forcefully in the years to come) attracting that much attention and hostility.
