If my best friend did that to me, I'd still say she was 'cheating' on me! She cheated me out of my happiness. My best friend and I are supposed to be closer than any two people on the planet! I'd still say she cheated on me if she did that to me! The love of two REAL best friends is, pretty much, sacred. It should not be betrayed!

I'm sure that's what he told her whether he actually intends to break up with you or not. It's more likely he's a very short sighted idiot and didn't think it would come back to you. Otherwise he'd probably just break up with you. Or he doesn't have the balls to do it himself. Either way, you and your *ex best friend are both getting played by this guy. The difference is she deserves it and you don't. I know this must hurt, but this is their loss not yours. You're better off without these horrible people I'm your life and they deserve each other.
