You must be kidding

Today, I went into work thinking it was my last day before I start my new job, as my 2-week notice said to the managers that I can't work after today. None of them believed that I was actually capable of getting a better job and thought my 2-week notice was a joke. FML

And that's when you moon-walk out the door while giving them a parting wave in the form of a one-finger salute.

Hey guess what. Now they look like dicks and are short someone. So win-win

looks like the joke is on them. congratulations on the new job!

Don't worry, it's not like you'll have to deal with them after today.

Well, I see this is from Ontario Canada which means as long as you did it properly... **** them. You already have a new job anyway. Hopefully you don't need the place as reference ever but I'm sure I'd end up being fine anyway.

hopefully the new job takes what you say more seriously.

Who cares!? U have another job. Leave when u said and go to your new job. Who cares what the old job thought.

this is exactly what I was thinking.

They can't make you stay for anymore time, you did what you needed to do in giving them a 2 weeks, if they screwed up its their fault.

Unless OP thinks he can't leave just because his old boss says he doesn't believe him. I fail to how this is a FML.

From the looks of it, f THEIR life. They try to go after you, you win this battle 10 times out of 10. You submitted your notice, and left. They legally can't count on you to work longer. They are now short and you have a new job.

Where is the problem for OP in this situation? He handed in his two-week notice, it is not his problem that his former boss didn't take him serious. His former boss can't force him to continu to work, he can just start his new job. Is his former boss bullying him into continu to work? Is he upset cause he didn't get a farewell party? Is his boss trying to hold back some pay? I feel like we are missing like half a FML for my feeling in this post. Unless the post is about the OP feeling insulted by his former boss is the FML. i tried to ask it in a shorter way, but this got misunderstood resulting in it being moderated and me receiving a warning. So I hope this question which I feel is legit (and based on almost everyone's comments others feel a similar way) gets an answer from OP.

It seems like the boss is trying to make OP work another two weeks. It could also be that the boss threw the written notice away thinking it was a joke or refused to make official documentation of the two weeks notice because they thought it was a joke. If that's the case, OP could actually get in trouble for not doing the two extra weeks. Either way, the problem is that- in one form or another- OP is trapped or thinks they are trapped at the job for two more weeks.
