Today, my cat was hit by a car. I took it to the vet expecting the worst but they told me that she’d be fine. I was so happy I didn't even mind paying the $50 bill. The next morning my cat was dead. Having her put down humanely would have cost $45, I paid $5 extra to have her die in my kitchen. FML

dude wow thats really messed up!! I'm sorry for your loss, but he/sheis in a better place now. and the vet did the best he could, given the signs said the cat was going to be ok. for him to use time and money on tests that, based on the original diagnosis, wouldn't have shown a thing. it's pretty hard to tell these things. Sorry for your loss, it wasn't really anybodys fault. And don't worry about the money, worse things have happened than losing 5 dollars.

Wow, what a shitty vet! I'm sorry about your cat. T-T. I took a stray cat that was begging at my door for food to the vet, and they told me it was a female and needed to be spayed. They shaved the cat's belly to check for spay scars and couldn't find any, meaning surgery was necessary. Since I was planning on adopting the kitty, I agreed to get the cat spayed. While in surgery, they discovered that my cat is actually an already-neutered male. My poor cat was kicked out of someone's house and neutered TWICE. :( #40- I don't think she is lamenting the fact that her cat died, but that she paid extra for the vet's incompetence and the cat suffered longer than it needed to. Lose lose. #32- Good point. I didn't notice that, but you are right. I guess she had to change it around to make her FML fit into the formula of "Today... shit happened... FML."

I would sue them for negligence. Think that way: if you would take it to better vet centre, your cat might still live.

Wow, that really sucks. I'm sorry to hear about your cat. You should have taken your cat's body back to the vet who said it was "fine" and demanded your money back.

Aw I'm sorry to hear about your cat, and surprised that the vet didn't do more. I work at a vets, and whilst things get missed on the rare occassion I do feel like your vet could have done more. Even with no injuries a cat would undoubtably be in shock after having been hit by a car - that in itself should be enough for the vet to offer over-night monitoring, IV fluids etc. I'm surprised that s/he didn't offer any of this, as well as X-rays... even if only for the money :-( Put your complaint in writing, and keep a copy. If the vet is genuinely shite (assuming there's not more to this story) then it will at least make him or her think twice next time someone brings an RTA cat in that appears "fine". Not only that, but if s/he's a truly terrible vet that keeps making mistakes, your letter might be considered as evidence should the need come for him/her to be struck off the vets register. Something to think about at least! xx
