I'm with 34, zombies are not to be trifled with.
that's definitely bullshit! fainted?! really?!
I understand your wanting to make sure people knew, but there's always the right time and place, and informing others of someone's death needs to be done in the right setting, I wouldn't agree that doing it in your shop, especially if this is a small town, would have been proper. But most of all, make sure you have the right information. I made a comment in my shop to a customer once -- he never dressed up,
Where's the rest of my comment? Is there a character limit? If so, would have been nice to know that.....
why would you tell all your customers anyway? talk about a mood killer
Where do you work, where all the costumers know each other?
Why would you share that with a bunch of strangers? That's a bit insensitive and overbearing.
On the upside, I just got a wonderful prank idea. But YDI.
Why would you tell people?
Hopefully you'll learn to keep your mouth shut in the future. Obviously you talked about something you had no knowledge about.

Why would you tell every customer about another customer's death?
I do feel bad for your blunder, but I have to say YDI. I can understand somebody telling their friends that another friend or family member has died, but not customers at a store. Did you not stop to think his family might not want you telling every person who walks into the shop that he died?
