That's how my sister-in-law felt when my husband proposed to me. I guess some family members just want to achieve that milestone first to prove some kind of point? In the end she let it go though. By the way congratulations on the engagement OP. Wishing you much luck and many happy years together.
Sometimes one day is enough to know you can't live without someone. Sometimes, even seven lifetimes can't convince you that you love someone.
Well if they're going to harass you, then it's time for a little pay back. Order a bouquet of flowers with a fake engagement ring and a note with a proposal written on it and mail it to your sister. Then she won't be upset about you getting married anymore and her man will be stuck in that awkward position. But if they're worried about you getting married first then speed up their proposals and marriage so they have nothing to complain about!
somebody's ALWAYS gotta win...
No one else is bothered by the fact that he proposed after knowing this person for less than a year?
Your sister's boyfriend should just sack up and propose already then.
that is really horrible to hear considering you too are a Singaporean
Why is thumbing down the less than a year comments? As far as relationships go it isn't that long. There seems to be a fairy tale aspect in the mind of a lot of the commenters. I don't wish them bad, but a year is a cake walk for the most part. Also if the sister has known her bf/husband for so long it's understandable they'd have problems with it.
Tell your sister and her boyfriend this and that you can't wait forever on them to do it so you can finally marry your one true love
Please wait at lest two years before you get married. I got married way to quick. I made it last nine years but in the end it didn't last and I was unhappy for more time then I was happy in my relationship. I'm not saying your relationship won't work, I'm just asking you to take your time and truly get to know each other.

I guess for some people, love is a competition after all...
Really? Some people need to grow up and learn to be happy for one another. Especially family.
