Today, my boyfriend said he felt like eating icing. So I baked him cupcakes, put icing on them and decorated them. When I handed them to him, he picked off the decoration, licked the icing and handed the cupcake back to me, saying, "I told you that's all I wanted." FML

Well he did tell you that's what he wanted...

Wow. Your boyfriend is a bit ungrateful, huh. He could've at least said thank you for making them, even if he didn't want them.

That made absolutely no sense and I am 1000% done with hearing that phrase. Please stop.

He maybe could have mentioned that when you were still in the preparation stages of baking, instead of waiting until you did all that for nothing. What a dick.

WTF is with all the YDIs? OP tried to do a nice gesture to please her boyfriend and he essentially bit the hand that fed him...he's a totally ungrateful jerk. OP DOES NOT deserve this!

Ungrateful, but not incorrect. He didn't say anything about a cupcake. He also still should have said thank you.

I have no idea whether to vote YDI or FYL. He did say he wanted icing. Us men tend not to talk in riddles, we say what we mean. There are no guilt trips nor loaded questions, no hidden meaning behind every word. The farthest we go is when we say we're gonna kick someone's ass but we punch their face instead. On the other hand, making cupcakes was a nice gesture. The guy was being a smartass, and depending on their relationship eating just the icing and handing back the rest could either be considered funny or rude. My money is on rude, since this story is now posted here.

how ungrateful of him after you went to all that effort , should made a bowl of icing then dumped it on his head.

The cupcakes were a nice thing, but he did say he only wanted icing. Going you deserve it here. Maybe just surprise him with only icing next time.
