Desperate times, desperate measures

By Anonymous - This FML is from back in 2012 but it's good stuff - United States

Today, my family made a fake boyfriend for me on Facebook, since it's been so long since I had one. I accepted the relationship request to try and trick people into thinking I actually had a boyfriend. FML

It's written black on white. I doubt people see a new relationship status and think "This is fake!!" I might be wrong though.

i was in a fb "relationship" married to be exact to a girl that was 16. point is, wasnt real just did it for fun, did it mean i was really married?

Your family made it..... Yeeeeaaaaahhh. I'm sure it was them.

Being popular through a social network is like being popular at a mental hospital. You don't even know half your friends and the other half are people in the white lab coats feeding you their ice cream full of lies.

Duh, haven't you heard the term "facebook official"??

Look on the bright side OP, your family cares about you :).

Why can't it be lime green lab coats? Why does it always have to be white?

I hate that. Facebook is stupid and doesn't mean anything for a relationship.

You used the correct form of 'too' but you couldn't spell 'you' or 'are' correctly?

18 - don't be a dick and try to belittle someone's accomplishment. It takes a hell of a long time to build a substantial amount of muscle and clearly the guy is on the right track.

18 - I'm with 31, don't let that douche put you off

Ok so I wake up and decided to see how people reacted to my comment and I find a lot of negative comments and some having to do with me being shirtless in my profile pic (don't know why it's a big deal). Now for the comment I made I get it being a bad one and people hating it so I really don't think much about it. But it seems I have to explain why I'm shirtless. Me being shirtless is actually nothing new to where I live (Hawaii). Over here it's not weird to see someone shirtless, not always the norm but not weird. I don't usually go shirtless unless after a workout or I went to the beach or if it's really fricken hot. 18 my bad if I offended you and 31 thanks for defending me but it's ok.

Like a squirrel looking a **** with a nice butt to get a nut.

Your parents are trying to make you feel better, even if it is through this tiny gesture. Be thankful that you have people around who really do care for you! You don't need a boyfriend to be happy. :)

Alls it takes is one click and you got a boyfriend? Is that the way it works now a days

Break up with that fake guy, make a new a guy and go out with him. Then people will think you're a pimp.

I don't think you know the definition of the word pimp

Wow! That is so smart! Now every guy is gonna want ask you out!

That's pathetic OP. Go out and find a real boyfriend.

You took the words right out of my mouth.

In the long run, you'll look even more foolish than you do now.

Trick what people? Your friends or random internet people? I'm sure they won't care or even notice and your real friends will wonder why you've never mentioned this person. You'll still be lonely and you'll appear unavailable. Brilliant plan. It's not a crime to be single and there's no time limit on it. If you weren't making such pathetic moves, people would think you're enjoying a fabulous single life. Why don't you actually go do that?
